and a brief explanation of setting up the Network Sharing on Linux here. If anyone is interested, I found a VirtualBox " Host-only Adapter" explanation here ( about half way down the page). THAT should allow me to connect using Samba and an IP address. I am just working through it now, but it looks like I can activate another adapter in "Host-only" mode. If I am reading it correctly, we should be able to set up a proper "Networked" connection USING VB's Additional network Adapters. I thought they were talking about a physically separate device. I missed it completely when they, on the VB forum ( and you here), mentioned setting up a 'Networked' connection between the Guest and the Host. and, " YES" I have the 'Matching' Guest additions versions installed on both VirtualBox (the Program) and the Running Guest OS. Re: the command line option - I thought that it would be doing basically the same thing. However, when I run the SyncBack profile I get this error message from SyncBackPro: I can "Browse" TO the source location I want backed up when setting up the profile IN SyncBack perfectly ( browsing to the directory WITHIN the SyncBack program). I want SyncBack to run a backup of those files to another location ( Access to the other location is Google Drive and connection there works perfectly).
I am able to navigate to the shared folder perfectly (Read, Write, run Executables) in the Guest OS's Windows Explorer. So I think the issue lies between VirtualBox and Linux Mint. The reason I am posting this question here is that when the HOST is Windows, the program on the Guest Os works perfectly with VirtualBox and backs-up/synchronizes the files. The Program being run on the Guest OS is a file backup & synchronization program called SyncBackPro v7 Shared Folder: a Directory on an NTFS partition - given full access in VirtualBox and Auto-mounted when the Guest Starts.
